Description

Begin your cultural journey with a hotel pickup and head toward Tipón, an extraordinary Inca site located southeast of Cusco. Covering over 2,200 hectares, Tipón features stunning agricultural terraces, ceremonial fountains, and an advanced irrigation system that is still in use today. Historians believe that Inca Wiracocha built this complex as a royal retreat for his father, Yawar Waqaq. The strategic location and exceptional architecture make Tipón a prime example of Inca hydraulic engineering.

Next, travel to the ancient Wari city of Pikillaqta, located about 32 kilometers from Cusco. This impressive site offers a well-preserved urban layout with long streets and high walls. On the way, enjoy sweeping views of the Huacarpay Lagoon, nestled in the Andes.

Finish your journey in the charming town of Andahuaylillas, home to the San Pedro Church, often referred to as the “Sistine Chapel of the Andes.” This 17th-century colonial church is adorned with beautiful murals and gold-covered altars, showcasing a unique blend of Andean and Spanish artistic influences.

This trip offers an immersive experience in ancient history, architecture, and vibrant culture.

After breakfast at the hotel, we will pick you up at 7:00 AM to board the bus. At approximately 8:15 AM, we will arrive in Andahuaylillas, where we will visit the baroque church (known as the Sistine Chapel of America). Inside, you will find the walls and ceilings adorned with stunning fresco paintings, admired by all visitors. After a 35-minute visit, we will board the bus and head towards Raqchi, arriving at approximately 10:05 AM. There, we will visit the grand temple of Wiracocha, with its massive adobe walls. We will spend about 50 minutes exploring this archaeological site before continuing our journey.

At around 11:30 AM, we will arrive in Sicuani for a delicious lunch at a local tourist restaurant. After about an hour, we will depart for La Raya, the highest point of this journey (4,335 meters above sea level). We will stop for 15 minutes to take photos, then continue our trip, arriving at Pukara around 2:40 PM, where we will visit the museum. Finally, we will head towards Puno, arriving at approximately 5:00 PM, where we will drop you off at the designated hotel.
