Description
Discover the magic of Peru on a 4-day all-inclusive adventure that immerses you in the culture, history, and landscapes of the Andes. Start your journey in Cusco, where our team greets you and takes you to your hotel. After a warm cup of coca tea to help with the altitude, explore the city’s remarkable landmarks, including Koricancha, the Cathedral, and impressive Inca sites like Sacsayhuamán, Qenqo, Puka Pukara, and Tambomachay. On the second day, travel through the Sacred Valley, visit the colorful market and ruins of Pisac, enjoy a traditional lunch in Urubamba, and walk the cobbled streets of Ollantaytambo and Chinchero.
On the day of your arrival at Cusco Airport, we will be waiting for you with a sign bearing your name to warmly welcome you and take you to the selected hotel, where you will be served an aromatic coca tea to help with altitude adjustment. After resting, we will begin the city tour at 1:30 p.m., with an expected finish around 6:30 p.m. Places visited:
- Koricancha and Convent of Santo Domingo: A religious center known as the “Temple of the Sun,” notable for its impressive engineering.
- Cathedral: A colonial religious monument of extraordinary artistic value.
- Sacsayhuamán: Located 2 km from the city, an impressive construction with enormous stones weighing up to 120 tons. This was the site of the Inti Raymi, the Festival of the Sun.
- Qenqo: A ceremonial center and astronomical observatory, located 3 km from Cusco.
- Puka Pukara: An ancient Inca road (Qhapaq Ñan) surveillance post, 7 km from Cusco.
- Tambomachay: A ceremonial center dedicated to the worship of water, 8 km from the city.
After breakfast, we will depart at 8:00 a.m. heading to Corao and continue along the Vilcanota River until Pisac, where we will visit the traditional market and the archaeological complex. We will then proceed to Urubamba for lunch at a tourist restaurant.
In the afternoon, we will visit Ollantaytambo, an important Inca military, religious, and cultural center. On the way back to Cusco, we will visit Chinchero, with its well-preserved Inca wall, colonial church, and beautiful landscapes. Arrival in Cusco is expected around 6:30 p.m.
(Optional: continue the same day to Aguas Calientes to spend the night and have more time at Machu Picchu the following day, including the possibility to hike Huayna Picchu).
Early in the morning after breakfast, we will take the bus that climbs for 25 minutes to Machu Picchu. You will be able to see the sunrise and, if you wish, hike Huayna Picchu (limited to 400 people per day, with an additional cost of 10 USD).
We will visit the main points of the citadel:
Main Plaza
Temple of the Three Windows
Intihuatana
Sacred Rock
Temple of the Condor
