Description

Embark on an unforgettable journey with the Inca Trail 2 Days / 1 Night trek. This experience takes you through the breathtaking landscapes of the Andes and the rich cultural heritage of the Inca civilization. On this trek, you’ll hike along ancient stone pathways, visit remarkable archaeological sites, and end the adventure with a sunrise view of Machu Picchu. Our expert guides will lead you through every step, ensuring you experience the best of this iconic trail in just two days.

We pick you up at 5:45 am from the hotel and take you to the train station, where we will travel through scenic landscapes until we reach Km 104, where we begin our hike. From the archaeological site of “Chachabamba” (2250 meters), we ascend for approximately 2 1/2 hours to the fascinating archaeological site of “Wiñaywayna” (2650 meters), where we will enjoy a picnic. In the afternoon, we continue through the semi-tropical forest towards “Intipunku” (the Sun Gate), where we can enjoy the first panoramic view of the majestic “Machu Picchu.” From here, we descend by bus to the town of Aguas Calientes, where you can optionally visit the hot springs, and we will comfortably spend the night.

After breakfast, we take the first bus to Machu Picchu to enjoy the sunrise at this magical place before other tourists arrive from Cusco. We will enjoy the tranquility of the Lost City of the Incas on a guided tour, followed by some free time. In the afternoon, we take the bus back to the town of Aguas Calientes, from where we return to Cusco by train. Transfer to the hotel.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

Very Important:

Although the regulations for the Inca Trail Expeditions recommend making a reservation well in advance, the average in high season indicates that 90 days before departure, there is no longer availability. This is the only way to preserve the road network and the Machu Picchu Sanctuary from erosion and pollution. Therefore, it is necessary to pay for the permits in advance.

WE RECOMMEND BRINGING:

  • Rain gear
  • Insect repellent
  • Sunscreen
  • Sunglasses
  • Hiking shoes
  • Swimsuit, towel, and sandals
  • Personal medications
  • Plastic rain poncho
  • Water bottle
  • Original passport
  • Student card (ISIC), if applicable
  • Extra money in Soles & dollars
  • Hiking poles

It is recommended to book the Inca Trail expedition in advance because, during high season, there is limited availability, and by 90 days before departure, the spaces may already be filled. This helps preserve the road network and Machu Picchu Sanctuary from erosion and pollution.

Essential items to bring include rain gear, insect repellent, sunscreen, sunglasses, hiking shoes, swimsuit, towel, sandals, personal medications, a plastic rain poncho, water bottle, original passport, student card (if applicable), extra money in Soles & dollars, and hiking poles.

The tour package includes one night in a hotel in Aguas Calientes, train tickets from Cusco to Km 104, entrance tickets for the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu, a professional guide, a box lunch on the first day, first aid kit, bus rides between Machu Picchu and Aguas Calientes, and hotel pickup in Aguas Calientes for the Machu Picchu tour.
