How to get to Machu Picchu
Option 1: Train (the most comfortable)
- Travel from Cusco to Ollantaytambo by private or public transport (approximately 2 hours).
- Take the train to Aguas Calientes (1 hour 45 minutes). You can choose between a tourist or local train.
- Take the bus to the entrance of Machu Picchu (30 minutes).
Tip: Buy your train tickets and admission at least 1 month in advance, especially during peak season.
Option 2: Hiking (for adventurers)
- Classic Inca Trail (4 days / 3 nights): The original route of the Incas. Book months in advance.
- Salkantay Trek (5 days): More demanding, but with spectacular landscapes.

Best time to visit
